Bahrain best; Spain sucked

The 2006 Formula One season is heading into a downward spiral, it seems. Fernando Alonso’s tightening grip on the world championship and the failure of Ferrari and McLaren to provide much in the way of resistance to Renault is bringing backs memories of Ferrari’s domination in 2002 and 2004.

Our post-race popularity polls reveal that fans feel the first race of the season at the often-criticised Bahrain circuit is still the best there has been this year. Only the incident-heavy Australian Grand Prix comes close in terms of popularity. The British Grand Prix ranked almost as low as the Spanish – both being uneventful Alonso-dominated processions.

Will this afternoon’s Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve throw up a surprise result and provoke some passing?

To cast your vote, visit the Autosport forums after the race and look for the ‘rate the Grand Prix’ thread.
