British F3 Silverstone 1: Asmer back on top

Marko Asmer bounced back from his recent disappointments to claim his eighth victory in the British championship this year.

A first-lap crash eliminated Michael Meadows, Salman Al-Khalifa and Alberto Valerio, and forced a brief safety car period. Asmer had no trouble maintaining his advantage over second placed Maro Engel and quickly established a comfortable lead. Only a brief slide at Abbey threatened to disrupt his run to the flag.

Engel finished second ahead of Atte Mustonen and Greg Mansell, both of which started on the third row. Rodolfo Gonzalez, who started third, dropped back after contact with Mustonen on the first lap.
