Marko Asmer clinched the British Formula Three championship in unusual style after retiring from the race with a blown engine. He effectively took the title when rival Maro Engel clashed with Carlin team mate Niall Breen at the first corner, ruining the German’s race.
Asmer’s retirement on lap 12 handed the lead to Stephen Jelley who stayed ahead to score his second win of the year.
The safety car was deployed for one lap while the cars of Juan Pablo Garcia Samano and Francessco Castellacci were recovered, but at the restart Sam Bird could do nothing about Jelley and settled into second, Greg Mansell following him home third.
In the national class Mexican Sergio Perez won the title after finished second behind Cong Fu Cheng. Full results below.
