  1. hello!
I have a question. Who starts from the dirty side here in Valencia, 1st,3rd,5th…drivers or 2nd,4th,6th?

How is it decided who starts on the ideal (clean) side? sometimes the pole man stands on the right sometimes on the left side…how can i know, for each race, who is on the clean side?

    1. pole man starts from the clean side

Valencia’s a bit odd in that respect. The first corner is a right-hander, but the final turn is a left. So the best line kind of runs diagonally across the grid. If you’re in the first half of the grid, it’s probably better to be on the outside – 1st, 3rd, 5th – but if you’re in the second half, you’d be better off on the inside – 12th, 14th, 16th – so it’s kinf of like Malaysia.

    3. they will try and put pole on the racing (clean) line. so it depends on each track schumifan.

  2. Last year the pole slot was to be on the left side but was changed to the right side for safety reasons. So it would be the clean side.

  3. Why is Webber in 9th and Räikkönen in 6th? On the TV screens they showed them the other way round.

  4. what is the fuel effect at this track? i know the consumption is 2,66kg/lap or somethig

  5. I really can’t understand Badoer position… even though he’s a “rookie”, so is Grosjean…
Badoer seemed to be strugling with the break, as I could realize watching this qualifying session.
    Your ideas?

    1. Line comparisson (with Raikkonen) showed he’s braking to soon and drives to tight trough corners. He allready comes into the turn off ideal line, turns in the corner way too fast, and his line is just not clean trough corners. It showed one corner, and he lost at least 2 car lenghts there and there is 25 turns in Valencia. He mainly looses on the exit from the corner, because he keeps missing the apex. A big mistake from Ferrari..and i’m sure Schumacher feels relieved that he didn’t come back. Maybe Ferrari should have taken Bortolotti, he’s free till 11th september. What i would suggest to the teams is to put their reserve drivers to some lower class categories, or..take a young diver from a low class and replace him with their test and reserve driver. I doubt a decent F2 or GP2 racer would lag more than 2 seconds behind Raikkonen.

      1. totally agree!

and thing I noticed and expected some penalty is that in the very beggining of the qualifying session, when he was the 1st to leave the boxes, he passed the line that separates the out-of-boxes line from the track (and then came back to it).

        what a disappointment!

        1. I noticed him cross the white line too! Not heard anything since! Maybe they thought they’d fined him enough this weekend!

    2. yup.. he was struggling very hard.. but not just with the brake.. he is absolutely not familiar enough with the F60.. It’s kind of weird when a Ferraris with red on top of his air box failed to make it through Q1 and scores no point in the race even the race car is in normal condition.. Luca need to work harder so that Ferrari will be in the top 3 in constructors’ championship.. Good luck, Luca.. Get well soon, Felipe.. Good job, Kimi..

      1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhRXL6hzj_Q that line comparison i was talking about

  6. quick qn:

didnt vettel get an engine change in practice?
was he not penalised for that?

    1. yes, they changed his engine, but he didn’t get penalised, because he hasn’t used all 8 engines yet (each driver can use 8 engines in a season, after that he gets a penalty).

He allmost got penalised because he spilled oil on track causing the session to be red flagged.
