Haas will become the first team to unveil their livery for the 2022 F1 season when they present their new design online on Friday.
The team, who finished 10th and last in the 2021 constructors’ championship, will reveal the livery that will adorn the Haas VF-22 at 11am GMT, they announced in a post on social media.The actual chassis the team will race through the season will be revealed at a later date.
Haas’s announcement means the team will be the first to show off their livery for the upcoming Formula 1 season. Earlier today, Red Bull announced that they would unveil their RB18 car on Wednesday evening.
The 2022 season will be the second where Haas field the driver line-up of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. Last year, Haas adopted the red, white and blue colours of the Russian flag of title sponsor Uralkali, the Russian fertilizer producing company that Mazepin’s father, Dmitry Mazepin, is CEO of.
Having forgone any development work on last year’s car to favour the design of their 2022 car under the radical new technical regulations, Haas will be hoping to make significant progress up the field in this new season. The team failed to score any points throughout the entire 2021 campaign – the first time they had failed to do so since joining the sport in 2016.

@f1hornet my understanding is that it still applies to this season. I thought the punishment was just ‘political gesturing’ but listening to Medvedev after the AO final, it clearly bothers him. And perhaps it bothers Kvyat and Mazepin. Obviously, I don’t know. But none of them did anything wrong, and as much as it seems a silly punishment to me, it obviously means something to some.
I was saddened by Medvedev’s response after losing, that basically he’s the ‘other guy’ in a sport where all majors are in ‘the west’. Despite the fact he’s spent so much of his life outside of Russia. I just assumed he didn’t care, I assumed most didn’t care.
I don’t think banning flags and anthems does much more than stoke a fire that doesn’t need anymore flames. I suspect the Haas livery was a very mild ‘we don’t care / eff-you’.
I was born in Britain, and when it comes to ‘God Save the Queen’, I can figure bits out, ‘Glorious’, ‘Happy and………’ some other bits. I know the second verse is about killing the Scots, and technically it’s the UK national anthem. *grew up in Cumbria but born in Scotland. If I was to sing a song about getting people to attack me i’d insert a jazz middle eight to distract them whilst I ran away.
Though I don’t really get it, I’m all for people waving flags and singing anthems, it offers a sense of belonging.
But whether or not the livery on an F1 car falls within the protocol of a slightly strange ban, I’d just let them put those colours in that order. It makes little to no difference.
*I didn’t like Ferrucci’s Trump slogan, that’s overtly political. Stars, stripes and Eagles go for it, but political messages no.

I guess it was an attempt to punish the Russian state and sporting authorities (who frankly engaged in outrageous incidents of state-sponsored doping and cover ups at the Sochi Olympics) without punishing individual athletes who had nothing to do with it (i.e. allowing the likes of Mazepin and Medvedev to compete). I think it’s ended up being a bit silly, because I don’t think it has much at all to do with F1 or professional tennis and it’s a shame people have been impacted in those sports, but probably the punishment wasn’t harsh enough when it comes to the Olympics!

Well, with the article asking how much teams will actually show at launch, I think I might prefer HAAS just saying out loud that they won’t show a thing apart from whether their livery this time is still a blatant showing of the Russian flag or not, that sets appropriate expectations.
