  1. What an ending. Leclerc wasn’t far from another win, but oh well.
Hamilton could’ve pitted from the same lap as Hulkenberg & Magnussen, though.

  2. Late call by Mercedes under the SC cost Hamilton 4 places. He could have finished 6th.

He was called in just after he passed the pit entrance, that same call made then should have been made 5 seconds earlier.

Still he managed 10th from 16th start.

Otherwise Verstappen’s win from Leclerc at least means the Ferrrai aren’t running away with it.

    1. Mercedes pit stops are still too slow and their pit calls are also too slow. It is easy to overlook these issues when you have a rocket but when you have a mid field car, these issues lose multiple places.

  3. Worth the price of admission to hear Max say, “that’s unfair”, when Leclerc was going fast during the yellow. It “that’s unfair”, then removing only the lapped cars between Max and Hamilton was grossly unfair. Just nice to hear what Red Bull thinks when they are being unjustly treated on the track.

      1. Because it actually was, especially on Riccardo and Stroll who were fighting those very cars as well as Saniz who was left with a lapped car between him and Vestappen.

    2. Max got closed to Charles under VSC. I think he should learn to keep his big mouth close about what’s fair and unfair, especially after the most questionable wdc win.

      1. I don’t know about most questionable. Two of the drivers hailed as the greatest of all time won one of their titles under nefarious circumstances. Not saying I disagree with you on the shadow that gets cast on last years wdc, I just don’t think it’s the shadiest thing that’s happened to end the championship

  4. I know safety car didn’t help Perez and he was hard done by it but the fact he didn’t have to give place back till after the restart just doesn’t sit right. It removed the threat that Verstappen had from Sainz by keeping Perez there.

Great to see Leclerc with a big smile talking about how much he enjoyed the race – despite losing the win very late on.

It’d be great to see him become champion this year

    2. Thats how the new generation fights and battles each other..
A refreshing way of respect for the other driver .
Both made a excellent impression and showed how its done.

      1. Your beloved paperchamp is able to keep up to professionell standards. At least for now, lets see whether he can keep it like that.

His constant whining should stop (his lights dont work, he crossed the line at pit entry, he catched up under VSC – while he himself did, its unfair – while he set his fastest lap under double yellow). If he gets some more professionell level there and uses his advantage to have the fastest car, then he could be a true and worthy champ this year.

    3. I think Leclerc has realized that Vestappen can’t do much against him without a long straight and several DRS zones (which I really hope get toned down or removed as seeing them fight over who gets to the line first was ridiculous) to use the Honda power.

  6. Virtual Safety Car gave Verstappen the victory, he was 2 seconds behind Leclerc when it came out and 1 second at the restart…embarassing, just use the regular Safety Car then…

Great to see such close battling at the front two races in a row. Gutted for Perez but his misfortune allowed us to have this battle.

  8. Didn’t think there’d be three Brits in the top 10 after qualifying!

  9. Another good race proving cars can follow closely.

But think its time for DRS to go, its no longer needed and turned the last activation zone into a bit of a gimmick. Maybe trial without it for a couple of races.

    1. They should use the sprint races to trial it, if they do not trial it sooner :)
