The configuration of the Detroit Belle Isle circuit will be changed for next year’s race:
The track is going to return to a configuration used in 2000-01, adding a half-mile straightaway through the tree-lined center of the island.

It looks like they’re going to use this configuration:

That looks like a step in the right direction to me which should hopefully make for better racing and more passing opportunities.
They’re also resurfacing the track which is definitely necessary – last year it began to fall apart at half distance, and next it’s supposed to hold a pair of full-length races on consecutive days…
