Paul Di Resta’s comments to The Guardian recently (http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/nov/19/paul-di-resta-leave-f1-force-india) suggest he considers Indycar a genuine option if he loses his seat at Force India.

Sergio Perez has Telmex backing (they also sponsor one of Ganassi’s teams) and is rumoured as a possible replacement for Dario Franchitti.

Mikhail Aleshin, best known for winning the 2010 Formula Renault 3.5 title, recently tested with the Schmidt team at Sebring (http://www.italiaracing.net/notizia.asp?id=42435&cat=3) and may lead to a link-up with the Russian SMP Racing outfit.

Sounds like it will be a case of 1 in F1 (Force India or possibly Sauber for Perez), 1 in IndyCar. Perez can bring up to about £10m, not sure if that could help him secure either role ahead of Di Resta. Are there any other drivers in the role for Ganassi?

Aleshin had gone as far as he could really in single-seaters, so with no F1 chance in 2011 onwards, this would be a good move for him. Not sure if he has any backing that can help them out (didn’t know SMP was Russian either). First Russian driver in IndyCar?

Chip Ganassi himself hasn’t said much, but several other names have been speculated.. Justin Wilson, Ryan Briscoe, Conor Daly, Sage Karam, Alex Tagliani.

Aleshin probably has some personal sponsorship, I can’t say for sure.
